Also noticed in the beginning that I was passing a little blood. I started to have a bit of pain in my stomach and my bowel movement changed. My journey started about 2 1/2 years ago. This is probably going to be a bit long winded and end up being a rather large wall of test. Just have been holding off for some reason. I've been meaning to do this for a while now. I will be seeing three different doctors next week. Can anyone shed some light? I am very strong and hopeful and really thought this was over with ostomy. Ok, now they are looking at an inflammatory disease and have me on Cipro and amoxicillin. Today, the owner of a colostomy, after 6 more surgeries to include, flap, seton, ileostomy and then reversal and then emergency colostomy.Ok, so I don't have an issue with my bag but now after 4 months post op, I still have very smelly brown discharge coming from my the back and seeping through the front area that is still open because fistulas refuse to heal up. Now, two fistulas and pain, infection etc. Well, 7 years later after 3 surgeries for what they now said oops! it was a fistula. I kept telling doctors that I was sure stool was coming out of the area but of course they said that was not possible. Developed what they thought was a Bartholin cyst and it was lanced several times. Have spent years suffering from severe constipation which led to a hemorrhoidectomy that now has me here. Diagnosed with Hodgkins 20 plus years ago received a vicious year of radiation. Hello everyone, my story in so long so I will try to condense it for the group. But at least I know!ĭoes anyone else have food sensitivities, a redundant colon and have had this reversal surgery? What am I getting into after that surgery? Will things get better or am I better off not expecting an improvement in digestion? It didn't go well, even in a small amount. Since I already knew what this felt like and because I have a great love of popcorn with a very limited diet, I decided I should experiment before my reversal surgery in December and tried popcorn last week. I only found help here on this forum and followed the advice of lots of water with hot tea. However, I recently found that pea shoots don't do well going through this system and had a bit of a blockage. This has helped stoma outputs become liquid rather than lumpy and painful.Īs part of the issues I have with food sensitivities and other allergies, I had found that pea shoots were very helpful. I am learning to keep eating small amounts of food, as before, but with the addition of lots of Dulcolax and Miralax each day. I couldn't keep up with the increased food intake and heat, apparently! During the pandemic we lost power and had to cook and eat extra food at our house. I have struggled with constipation since I can remember and was diagnosed with food sensitivities in my late 20's, then Hashimoto's Thyroid disease. After the colonoscopy in early September, the GI specialist found I have a redundant colon. After a week in the hospital doctors found a blockage and hole in my large intestine requiring a temporary colostomy. Hello! I am new to an ostomy, as of June 2020.
